Chips and your tower
A chip is a $TOWER, held for you
Everything in Stonk City is priced in chips. Each chip is a $TOWER the treasury keeps for you: put tokens in and get the same number of chips, cash chips out and get the same number of tokens back.
- 1 chip = 1 $TOWER
- In at the market price
- Out as $TOWER
One for one
Your chips, and the tokens behind them
Whatever you do with your chips, the treasury holds exactly one $TOWER for each of them. Nothing is made from nothing: a casino win is paid from the house's own tokens. Try it:
How chips move
In, around the city, and out
Two ways in, everything the city sells, and one way out. Follow the arrows.
Getting chips
Two ways in
Both start at the Cashier: press your chip balance in the top bar, then Get chips. It opens over any page.
01Send $TOWER
Your wallet shows the $TOWER being sent. The treasury keeps it for you, and the same number of chips lands. There is no daily limit.02Or pay with SOL or USDC
The Cashier prepares a swap and you sign it in your own wallet: your SOL or USDC buys $TOWER at the market price, and you get a chip for every $TOWER that arrives. Nothing is added on top.03Play, build, spend
Chips work everywhere: floors, the casino, cars and aircraft, clothes, shares, races. Your balance in the top bar is always up to date.
Two kinds
Chips, and Bonus chips
There is one kind of chip. Bonus chips are the city's gifts, for playing. Your balance in the top bar shows both.
Chips
A $TOWER the treasury holds for you. Yours to use anywhere, and to take home.
- Comes from$TOWER or SOL and USDC you put in, yield, winnings, wages, dividends, contracts (contract pay, yield and wages arrive locked)
- Pays forEverything: floors, shops, the casino, shares, races
- Cash outYes: one $TOWER for each chip
Bonus

- Cash outOnce played through 20×, they become chips
Bonus chips
What Bonus chips can and can't do
Wherever Bonus chips are taken, they're spent before your own chips, so yours last the longest.
✓Bonus chips go to
- The casinoIn their own Bonus wallet: a bet is Bonus or chips, never both
- Cars and aircraftBuying and renting, spent before your chips (a limited-edition aircraft takes chips only)
- Clothes and decorationsBull Outfitters and your tower's decor, spent first
- Tips and the barAt the Velvet Pole, spent first
✕but never to
- Floors and adsMoving a company in, levels, switches, billboards and tower signs take chips
- SharesThe Stonk Exchange trades chips only
- Races, matches and wagersEntries, buy-ins, Cops & Robbers stakes and Island Games wagers
- Cashing outNot until they are played through
Bet them 20 times over (some games count for less), and as many chips as you were given become chips of your own: yours to spend, play or cash out.
Locked chips
Earned chips that run through the city first
What ContractX and the Burner's jobs pay in chips arrives locked (50%), and so do your tower's yield and your job wages (0%). Locked chips are your own and count in your balance, but they have to run through the city once before they can be cashed out. Your menu under the chips shows how many you have.
- They unlock when you use them. Play them at the casino. Spend them in the city: floors, cars, aircraft, clothes, decor, the bar. Buy a bond with them. Or buy shares on the Stonk Market and hold them for 24 hours; sold after that, they pay out as chips you can cash out.
- Locked chips go first. Wherever you pay the city, locked chips are taken before your other chips.
- At the casino a loss uses them up. A win pays back free chips, except that some games count less than others: slots count fully, blackjack least, and the rest of a blackjack win stays locked.
- They can't be cashed out, sent to a friend, or staked against other players (poker, races, matches, tournaments). Those take your other chips only, and say so if you are short.
- Never locked: dividends, bond payments, casino winnings, deposits, refunds and Sponsor Share. Only contract and Burner pay, yield and wages are.
Cashing out
Taking chips home
Only into $TOWER, on the site: the Cashier sends one $TOWER for every chip, straight to your own wallet.
- Only unlocked chips cash out. Locked chips stay in your balance until they have run through the city; the Cashier shows how many are waiting.
- The network cost is what the transfer costs on Solana, taken in chips and shown before you confirm. A wallet with no $TOWER account yet pays for opening one too, once. A cash-out has to be bigger than its own cost.
- Changed your mind? A cash-out that is still waiting for the Cashier has Cancel on it: every chip comes back, and it gives up its place in line. One already on its way to your wallet can't be cancelled.
- One at a time: while a cash-out is on its way or waiting, the Cashier takes no other from the same wallet. Cancel the waiting one first if you want a different amount.
- A transfer that can't land comes back to you as chips. If your own wallet is why (its $TOWER account was closed after you cashed out), the network cost is kept.
